Description
This recipe will guide you through making perfectly seasoned French fries that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. With a simple blend of spices, you can elevate your fries to a whole new level of flavor, whether you choose to bake, fry, or air fry them!
Ingredients
4 large potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold)
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for baking or frying)
Instructions
Prepare the Potatoes:
Wash and peel the potatoes (optional). Cut them into even-sized strips for uniform cooking.
Soak the Fries:
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps achieve crispiness.
Preheat the Oven (if baking):
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Season the Fries:
Drain and pat dry the potatoes with a kitchen towel. In a large bowl, toss the fries with vegetable oil, ensuring they’re evenly coated.
In a small bowl, mix the salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the fries and toss until well coated.
Cook the Fries:
For Baking: Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
For Deep Frying: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the seasoned potatoes in batches for about 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
For Air Frying: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the seasoned fries in the basket and cook for about 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
Serve:
Enjoy your perfectly seasoned fries with your favorite dipping sauces!
