This Easy Crab Brulee is a delightful seafood dish that combines the rich flavors of fresh crab meat with a creamy filling and a crispy caramelized sugar crust. Perfect for impressing guests at dinner parties or enjoying a gourmet meal at home, this recipe is simple to follow and can be ready in under an hour.
Ingredients
1 cup fresh crab meat
1 cup heavy cream
4 egg yolks
½ cup grated Parmesan or Gruyere cheese
2 tablespoons sugar (for caramelizing)
Optional:
Zest of 1 lemon
A pinch of cayenne pepper
Fresh herbs (like parsley or chives) for garnish
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, heavy cream, egg yolks, grated cheese, and optional ingredients (lemon zest and cayenne pepper). Mix until smooth and well combined.
Bake the Brulee:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
Pour the crab mixture into individual ramekins. Place the ramekins in a baking dish and fill the dish with hot water to create a water bath.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the mixture is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
Caramelize the Topping:
Remove the ramekins from the water bath and allow them to cool slightly.
Generously sprinkle sugar on top of each brulee. Using a kitchen torch, carefully caramelize the sugar until it melts and turns golden brown.
Serve and Enjoy:
Allow the brulee to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
